API Registration and You!

Welcome to the new and improved forums. We are going to be using an API system to manage the users who can access the forums.

Why did we do this?
The old forums had hundreds of people registered and managing them all was virtually impossible. After IRC was removed from drones we found dozens of people who had access but were not in IRC for months.

What does this mean for me?
What will happen is when you register, the forum will pull your API data and look to see what alliance you are in. If you are not in IRC, it wont let you in as you probably should not be here. We do store API data so it can be checked from time to time to verify you are in IRC. It is stored encrypted in a database and is only accessible by you. For a list of what can and can not be done with an API read the EVE API Key Management FAQ at the bottom of the page where you collect your API: HERE

In the future we will incorporate this API database into more aspects of the website such as tools like POS trackers and killboard features.

Thats all fine but I cant register and did not read this first, why is it not working?
To register, you must use the name of the character that is in IRC, it is case sensitive. Enter your Corporation Ticker, and LIMITED API information. Please do not use "<Character1>/<Character2>" or <corp ticker> - <character name> as it will NOT work.

Something that escaped several users so perhaps worth mentioning explicitly.

once your registration is complete...

Go to Control Panel -> User Contro Panel -> User Groups
From there you can reguest being added to various user group such as your corporate forums

Willkommen auf unserem neuen verbesserten Forum.
Wir werden ein API System benutzen um Mitglieder mit zugriffsrechten zu diesem forum zu verwalten.


Warum haben wir das gemacht?

Das alte Forum hatte hunderte mitglieder registriert und diese zu verwalten war nahezu unmöglich.
Nachdem wir uns aus den Drohnen Regionen zurückgezogen hatten entdeckten wir dutzende accounts mit zugang zu unserem Forum, welche aber schon lange keine IRC mitglieder mehr waren.



Was heisst das für mich?

Was passieren wird ist, das Forum wird deine API daten checken un zu sehen in welcher Allianz du bist.
Wenn du nicht in IRC bist wird es dir keinen zugang gewähren da du wahrscheinlich sowieso keinen zugang haben solltest.
Wir sammeln die API daten um von zeit zu zeit zu bestätigen das du noch in IRC bist.
Er (der API-Key) ist in verschlüsselter form in unserer Datenbank gespeichert und niemand ausser dir hat zugang zu ihm.

In Zukunft wollen wir die API Datenbank mit weiteren Aspekten auf dieser Website verknüpfen wie Pos tracker und Killboard funktionen.



Das ist ja alles in Ordnung aber ich kann mich nicht registrieren und habe das hier nicht zuerst gelesen, warum funktioniert es nicht?

Um dich zu Registrieren musst du den Ingame namen deines Charakters in IRC verwenden, ACHTUNG: achtet bitte auf
Groß- / -Kleinschreibung.
Gebt euren Corp ticker ein und den LIMITED API-Key. Bitte benutzt auf keinen fall "<Character1>/<Character2>" oder "<corp ticker> - <Character name>" da das nicht funktionieren wird.

I've read the instructions carefully, re-applied correctly with new limited API, never received the email activation, can't access the VAF folder in Team Speak.

forums and TS3 are different, you need to register on TS3 to get into that.
